Under this law, an organization/practice that works with personal data has certain duties, and the person whose data is involved has certain rights. Quality Assurance
Because every mother/baby couple has the right to the best possible lactation consultant care, it is important to ensure this quality. A lactation consultant IBCLC who is a member of the NVL guarantees that she adheres to some important rules. General terms and conditions by the NVL, as well as a professional profile and privacy protocol, have been established. A lactation consultant practice adheres to these.
WHO Code of Conduct
The WHO code is officially called the ‘International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.’ It means that parents should be able to make a choice for their child’s nutrition without influence from commercial parties. Thanks to the WHO code, advertising for baby food under six months has been restricted in the Netherlands. The WHO code is more extensive than Dutch Food Law or European legislation. However, I do not only work with brands and products from companies that adhere to the WHO code. This is the reason I will not advertise for some brands for some.
The WHO code aims to:
• Protect and promote breastfeeding
• Ensure parents receive the right and sufficient information
• Ensure breast milk substitutes, when necessary, are used correctly
• Ensure guidelines for the sale and advertising of baby food are followed
NVL Complaints Procedure
Information
All complaints, preferably in writing, addressed to the complaints committee of the NVL, will be handled. Only after consultation between the care provider, the client, and possibly the complaints officer does not lead to a solution is it necessary to have a complaint in writing. This determines the start of the official handling period of the complaint. From that moment, the care provider must, within six weeks, resolve the complaint with the client. NVL Complaints Procedure.
Disputes Committee Complaints Portal Care
I am a member of the Complaints Portal Care and thus comply with the requirements of the WKKGZ. I have a complaints scheme and complaints officer (see above) and am affiliated with a recognized dispute resolution body.
